Lufthansa Group reduced timetable for the period 29 March to 24 April.
Due to the exceptional circumstances caused by the spread of the coronavirus, Lufthansa today publishes reduced flight schedules of its passenger airlines for the period from 29 March to 24 April. The flight cancellations will be implemented successively in the booking systems, and affected passengers will be informed of the changes and rebooking options as of today. For all passenger airlines in the Group, a total of 23,000 flights must be cancelled. Further cancellations are ex-pected in the coming weeks. Flight schedule adjustments for the period after 25 April will be made at a later date.
The capacity adjustments mainly affect Europe, Asia and the Middle East. In the cancellations, care will be taken to ensure that all destinations on all continents can be reached with a Lufthansa Group airline via the hubs of Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Vienna and Brussels.
Lufthansa passengers who are planning a trip in the coming weeks are recommended to check the current status of the respective flight on Lufthansa.com, Austrian.com, SWISS.com, Brussels.com, Eurowings.com before departure. Guests who have left their contact details with Lufthansa will be proactively informed if their flight is cancelled.
The Lufthansa Group airlines are reducing their flight offer within Europe by up to 25 percent
As a result of the current situation caused by the accelerated spread of the Coronavirus, Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa and SWISS are cancelling up to 25 percent of their flight offer within Europe for the period from 8 to 28 March 2020. In addition, single day flight cancellations may also occur on intercontinental routes. The necessary flight cancellations will be completed tonight, Thursday, 5 March 2020. Customers affected by flight cancellations will be rebooked automatically as far as possible. Customers affected by a flight cancellation can rebook once free of charge or have their ticket refunded.
Lufthansa Group extends flight suspensions to China until 24 April
Lufthansa Group will continue to cancel flights to mainland China until 24 April 2020. This affects flights to Beijing (PEK/PKX), Shanghai (PVG), Nanjing (NKG), Shenyang (SHE) and Qingdao (TAO). Flights to Hong Kong (HKG) will be reduced in March and April 2020. As a result of the current situation caused by the accelerated spread of the Coronavirus also in Europe, the number of short- and medium-haul flights can be reduced by up to 25% over the upcoming weeks. The Lufthansa Group airlines are therefore asking passengers to always check the status of their flight and the current travel and entry restrictions of their final or transit destination before the start of their journey. These might be subject to change on short notice. Customers affected by a flight cancellation can rebook free of charge or have their ticket refunded.
