Tailored to individual customer needs: the new Lufthansa Group fares for Europe

The Lufthansa Group Airlines - Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa and SWISS - are introducing a new price concept on European routes.

For bookings and travel since 23 June 2015

Austrian Airlines (OS) and Lufthansa (LH):

For bookings since 28 July 2015 and travel from 1 October 2015.

With three different Economy Class fare options in each booking class – Light, Classic and Flex -, travellers can now enjoy more options when booking their flights. The new fares will reflect fixed services included in the price as well as different rebooking and refund conditions. Passengers can thus always choose the exact fare that best meets their needs, and only pay for the services they actually want to use.

Regardless of the fare selected, carry-on baggage, snacks & beverages as well as the usual number of award, status and select miles will still be included on Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa and SWISS flights. HON Circle Members, Senators, Frequent Travellers and Star Alliance Gold members booking Classic or Flex fares retain their familiar privileges. The new Light fare, however, does not include complimentary advanced seat reservation, additional free baggage allowance or free golf equipment allowance. All other status advantages such as lounge access remain unchanged with these fares. For members of SWISS Golf Traveller, the Light fare does not include a free golf equipment allowance.

Light – the basic fare and most affordable option

The new Light fare covers the basic flight and is the most affordable choice for travellers who are travelling with carry-on baggage only and do not require rebooking and refund options.

  • Starting price: from €89*

A seat reservation can be made for an additional fee up to 48 hours before departure. All seats that are not yet taken will of course still be available free of charge at check-in. A baggage fee will be added for a piece of checked-in baggage up to 23 kg when booking through a travel agency, on the airline websites or by calling the Service Center. A piece of baggage booked at short notice directly at the airport will be subject to a higher fee.

Classic - the standard fare with many services included

The Classic fare includes all those services that are currently included in an Economy Class booking as well as complimentary advanced seat reservation in all booking classes. This is the best option for those who do notwant to give up the services included, such as one piece of free baggage and a seat reservation at the time of booking, and who want to enjoy a certain amount of flexibility.

  • Starting price: from €129*

Flex - the flexible fare for travel plans that are subject to change

The Flex fare is primarily aimed at passengers who need more flexibility in their travel planning. With this fare, rebookings are free of charge** and route changes are also possible***. A refund is available for a fee if required.

  • Starting price: from €199*

Business Class – for relaxed travel in best comfort

In addition to the three new Economy Class fares, travellers can of course also book the comprehensive and fully flexible comfort of Business Class on European routes. As always, this provides service of the highest quality and, for business passengers as well as discerning leisure travellers, leaves nothing to be desired. As a new feature, all Business Class fares are fully flexible and can be rebooked and cancelled free of charge.
