The award underlines Lufthansa’s strong commitment to the UK market, with the airline operating 292 flights per week from major airports in the UK and Ireland, including London Heathrow, London City, Birmingham, Dublin, Edinburgh and Manchester. Lufthansa offers UK customers one of the biggest choices of worldwide network connections via its hubs in Frankfurt and Munich to 205 destinations in 74 countries.
This award follows on from a historic 2017 for the Lufthansa Group, with passenger numbers reaching an all-time high of 130 million. In December alone, 9.3 million passengers flew with the Lufthansa Group Airlines, a 19.9% increase on the previous year.
As well as winning the Long Haul category, Lufthansa was also shortlisted for every airline category, including Best Short Haul Airline and Business Airline of the Year alongside Best Long Haul Airline. In addition, sister company Swiss International Air Lines was also nominated for Best Short-Haul Airline.
Andreas Koester, Lufthansa Group‘s Senior Director Sales UK, Ireland & Iceland, said: “The award is a well-deserved recognition of our major effort to make Lufthansa the airline of choice for UK business and leisure travellers.
