Rebooking options for new bookings (tickets issued from 20 April to 15 May 2020)
To ensure that you can book your business trip with peace of mind, the airlines of the Lufthansa Group continue to offer the possibility to rebook once free of charge within the framework of a new goodwill rule. This applies to all new bookings between 20 April and 15 May 2020 (date of ticket issue).
If the flight is cancelled, you can rebook if you already know your new travel date within 14 days of flight cancellation.
Alternatively, passengers who do not yet wish to commit to a new travel date or want to change their routing, can rebook free of charge until 31 August 2020. This allows you the flexibility to adjust your travel plans without time pressure and allows you to secure the EUR 50/USD 50/CHF 50 discount.
Passengers whose flights have not been cancelled but who would still like to adjust their travel plans, can rebook once free of charge.
In addition, all Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, SWISS, Brussels Airlines and Air Dolomiti fares* have been changeable since the beginning of April 2020. This applies to fares such as the Economy Light fares and the Business Saver fare. Thanks to this ticket flexibility, multiple rebookings are also possible. Please note that a rebooking fee may apply.
* With the exception of bookings with point of commencement in Japan
This goodwill policy is applicable for passengers:
with a booked flight through 30 April 2021, and
- with an Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, SWISS, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings ticket issued between 20 April and 15 May 2020, and
- with a booked Austrian Airlines/Lufthansa/SWISS/Brussels Airlines/Eurowings/ Edelweiss/Germanwings/Air Dolomiti flight number worldwide, or
- on a flight operated by another airline with Austrian Airlines/Lufthansa/SWISS/Brussels Airlines/Eurowings/ Edelweiss/Germanwings/Air Dolomiti flight number ("codeshare") worldwide
Rebooking options for existing bookings (tickets issued on/before 19 April 2020)
The Lufthansa Group airlines are adjusting the goodwill policy for rebooking and extending the start of the journey until 30 April 2021. In addition, the goodwill policy now applies to Austrian, Lufthansa, SWISS, Brussels Airlines and Air Dolomiti tickets issued on/before 19 April 2020.
Customers with a booked flight until 30 April 2021, who do not wish to select their new travel date and/or routing yet, can make a rebooking free of charge until 31 August 2020.
Customers rebooking to a new travel date with a departure date on/before 31 December 2020 will receive a discount of EUR 50/USD 50/CHF 50
Customers who want to be even more flexible can now rebook to a new travel date with a start date on/before 30 April 2021 – but without a EUR 50/USD 50/CHF 50 discount.
We hope that these extended rebooking options will enable our customers to adjust their travel plans without time pressure. Moreover, they can continue to rely on the Lufthansa Group airlines to get them to their destination safely and responsibly.
Information for rebooking options and on the refund process
The spread of the coronavirus these past few days and weeks is affecting the lives of people worldwide and air travel is also affected to an unprecedented extent. In economic terms, the Lufthansa Group has to face new challenges on a daily, even almost hourly basis. In view of current developments, the airlines of the Lufthansa Group are doing everything they can to manage this crisis in the best possible way.
As previously communicated, the airlines of the Lufthansa Group are now offering flexible and free of charge rebooking options, which also apply to passengers who did not take their originally booked flight (no-show).
These enhanced rebooking options allow you to flexibly adjust travel plans until 31 August 2020
Passengers may keep their ticket for a cancelled or future flight without the need to immediately decide on an alternative date or routing for a new flight
The value of the ticket will not expire and you will get a discount or credit of EUR 50/USD 50/CHF 50 on the rebooking
If you do not wish to take advantage of any of these flexible rebooking options, you can still submit tickets for refund via your travel agency. We ask for your understanding that in the current situation it is not possible to process refund requests within the usual time limits.
The refund process on the Lufthansa Group airlines’ websites has been temporarily adjusted. Refunds already submitted will be processed with a delay.
In these extraordinary times, the Lufthansa Group airlines are depending on your support as partners and, in particular, your understanding: We are aware that not only our industry is affected by the consequences of the coronavirus, and therefore we are not happy having to carry out such a measure.
On behalf of Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, SWISS, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings, we thank you for your understanding and wish you and your families all the best. Stay healthy and take care of yourself.
