Air Canada introduced new low fare options for travel over the Atlantic, along with our joint venture partners, United and Lufthansa.
Unlike typical ultra-low-cost carrier fares, customers will be entitled to complimentary carry-on baggage, the accumulation of Aeroplan Miles and Altitude Qualifying Miles (at a reduced rate) on transatlantic routes, as well as access to seatback in-flight entertainment systems (when available). As the lowest fare option, certain restrictions apply: some travel options and services will be available for a fee, while others will not be available. For instance, this fare does not allow the use of eUpgrades, last-minute upgrades, or AC Bid Upgrades. Economy Basic has been designed to provide value to customers who won’t need to adjust their travel dates and are willing to travel light.
The Economy Basic fare was initially introduced in February 2018 on select routes and flights within North America operated by Air Canada, Air Canada Express carriers and Air Canada Rouge. The Economy Basic fare is available through aircanada.com for North American flights and in all channels for transatlantic flights.
